Detroit Summer Property Tax Deadlines: August 15 Installment And August 31 Full Payment

Detroit residents should check summer property-tax deadlines, PayDetroit365, hardship routes, HOPE and BadPD source trails before penalties or interest create a bigger problem.

Detroit summer property-tax season is active, and residents should check the deadline before penalties or interest create a bigger problem. The City of Detroit Treasury page says the first half-summer installment is due on or before August 15, or the full summer amount is due on or before August 31.

What homeowners should check now

  • Confirm whether you are using the installment path or paying the full summer bill.
  • Call or email for a duplicate bill if you did not receive one.
  • Check whether a hardship exemption, summer tax deferment, senior deferment, solid waste discount or HOPE route applies.
  • Use a source-backed help page before relying on screenshots or secondhand advice.

Detroit’s PayDetroit365 tax page says missing the first installment deadline can end partial-payment eligibility and make the full summer payment due August 31. It also says any remaining summer balance can be subject to penalty and interest from July 1.
